Excelsior explorers

Ash Green Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 years old.

We meet in the Youth Centre on Monday evenings during term time. Meetings start at 8.00pm and finish at 9.30pm.

Explorers is the natural progression after Scouts or Guides. We currently have two Scout Troops which feed the Explorer Scout Unit. We also welcome new members.

Either way you can expect a mix of activity, both mental and physical and designed to challenge.

The highlight of the National calendar is Gilwell 24 - 24 hours of solid activity. See video above.

In addition, Explorers have the opportunity to complete awards including Activity badges, The Chief Scout's Award, The Queen's Scout Award, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and The Explorer Belt Award many of which are externally recognised and welcomed by potential employers and universities.

Why are we called Excelsior?

It's the Latin name for the north European ash tree that grows in New Ash Green - it also means 'to excel' which is what we plan to do.

Come along and see what fun and adventure you can have.
